We are looking for someone who loves leading a team to success while keeping in mind the big picture and the value to the end-user.

You will understand and interpret customer feedback, analyze user behavior, define features, and take steps to improve the product. You will lead a development team in the design, the development, testing and operating a SaaS solution as well as working to improve our processes. You will help accelerate our growth by ensuring that exagens caters to the needs of different financial institutions in the USA and across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Create a product road map based on the vision
  • Manage the product backlog and prioritizing them based on changing requirements. Write the user stories.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the development team, customers, sales, and stakeholders regarding product-related issues
  • Ensure that the team members have a clear understanding of the product vision, the expected deliverables, the goals of each initiative, and new product release timelines and milestones
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of a development team focusing on SaaS solution development. Oversee all stages of the product including the design, development, testing, and the operation.
  • Drive the development team to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget and is following established engineering processes, practices, and methodologies.
  • Serve your team, empower them, remove barriers and help them be as successful as they can be.
  • Ensure the team has accurate direction and understands product requirements
  • Responsible for reviewing and assessing the performance of individual team members (mostly developers) and the team as a whole. Provide coaching and mentorship to help members improve their skills and performance, and identify areas where training or development is needed.
  • Create a positive and productive work environment for the engineering team. Eliminate conflicts by early identification and addressing their sources. Promote collaboration and teamwork, and provide support and guidance to your senior developers when needed. 
  • Participate in product strategy and have a deep knowledge of the solution the development team is creating. Have regular communication with the development team, customers, sales, and other stakeholders.
  • Interface with customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress

Qualities and skills

  • Proactive, Leadership
  • Thinking outside the box
  • Be in charge of a product from creation to exploitation (4 years +) 
  • Have experience in software development (back-end and front-end) (2 years +).
  • Be familiar with development/quality best practices (Unit Test, CI/CD pipeline, testing strategy...)
  • Manage, mentor and lead development teams (3 years +)
  • Experience in project management will be an asset
  • Bilingual – French and English
  • Have experience in the following technologies will a asset
    • Back-end technologies, for example: Java, spring boot, hibernate
    • Front-end technologies, for example: Node JS, React JS
    • SaaS technologies, for example: Kubernetes, docker, AWS services...
    • Security standards (SOC2, OWASP ASVS...)
